Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images The Fender Standard Telecoustic is an acoustic and electric guitar from Fender's Electracoustic series that retails for approximately $370. It's built off of a Telecaster body, which was originally created in 1950 by Leo Fender. It's known for a simple, timeless design and a lightweight, warm twang. The Telecaster style is well loved by many famous musicians like Keith Richards, Joe Strummer, Elvis Presley and The Eagles.
Body
-
The back and sides of the guitar's body are made of one-piece fiberglass with a top made of laminated spruce. This is topped with a satin polyurethane finish that comes in both "Black" and "Walnut" stain. The guitar also features x-bracing, which describes the criss-cross pattern of wood strips that's used to strengthen the top of the guitar. The warm tone of the guitar is a direct result of the placement, pattern and shape of these strips.
Neck
-
The Telecoustic has a "C" shape neck made of maple. Both the fingerboard and fretboard are made of rosewood. The fretboard has 20 frets and white dot position inlays. The nut width is 1.6" or 43 mm and the total scale length is 25.5" or 64.8 cm.
Hardware
-
The guitar has a chrome finish on its hardware and die-cast tuners. The bridge pins are black and have white dots that correlate with the white dot inlays on the fretboard. The rosewood bridge has a synthetic bone string nut and a compensated saddle that is a little further away from the nut than the stated scale length in order to compensate for the sharpness of a note when a string is pressed to the fretboard.
Other Features
-
Since it is an electric guitar, the Telecoustic has various electronic controls including volume, bass, middle, treble, low battery indicator light and a tuner on and off switch. It also has a Fishman Isys III electronic system with active on-board pre-amp and tuner to control the electrical audio output. It has an oval sound hole for its use as an acoustic instrument and the strings are Fender Dura-Tone Coasted 80/20 Bronze with a .012 to a .052 gauge.
