Strong Mold Odor Removal

The smell of mold and mildew can make even the cleanest of homes seem dank and musty. Mold can grow in many areas of the home, including within the walls, attaching its smell to furniture and clothes. There are several steps you can take to remove the odor of mold in your home.
  • Cleaning

    • Begin by thoroughly cleaning the moldy area with an antibacterial cleaning product or diluted dishwasher detergent. Be sure to get into hard-to-reach corners, nooks and crannies; you can use a toothbrush to do this if your hands won't fit. Leave the area open, and allow it to dry completely.

    Removing Moisture

    • Mold grows in damp conditions, which means removing moisture from the equation is one of the best ways to get rid of mold and its powerful odor. Keep a dehumidifier running in the moldy area, and help air circulate by opening windows or turning on the air conditioning.

    Deodorizing

    • Deodorize your home with activated charcoal. It will absorb mold and other odors, leaving the air smelling clean and neutral. You can pick up activated charcoal at your local pet store.
