The Toshiba Satellite P35-S6292 Is Dead and Won't Boot

Toshiba initially released the Toshiba Satellite P35-S6292 in late 2005. The laptop came with a 17-inch LCD display, a Mobile Pentium 4 538 3.2-gigahertz processor, 512 megabytes of RAM and an 80-gigabyte hard drive.

While a failure to boot could indicate defective hardware -- particularly due to the age of the computer -- simple fixes, such as checking the laptop's connection to a wall outlet, or replacing a broken AC adapter, could restore power to your system.
  • Check the AC Adapter

    • 1

Connect the AC adapter to the power jack on the side of the P35-S6292. Connect the AC adapter to the power cable.

    • 2

Connect an electronic device to an outlet and test the device to confirm the outlet is working. Connect the other end of the power cable to the outlet.

    • 3

Open the lid and hold down the power button for several seconds to boot the computer. If the computer fails to power on, swap the AC adapter with another compatible adapter.

    Check the Battery

    • 1

Hold down the power button for 15 seconds to confirm the Toshiba computer is powered off.

    • 2

Remove the AC adapter from the power jack and close the lid. Turn the computer over onto its face.

    • 3

Unlock the battery from its compartment, and slide the battery release latch to the side to eject the battery from its compartment.

    • 4

Remove the battery from the laptop. Wipe the contacts with a dry, anti-static cloth. Leave the battery out for at least 20 minutes.

    • 5

Reinsert the battery into the Toshiba laptop. Lock the battery in place. Reconnect the AC adapter to the computer, and plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet. Turn over the Toshiba Satellite P35-S6292 and open the lid. Press the power button to boot the computer.

    Wake the Computer From Hibernation

    • 1

Connect the AC adapter to the Toshiba Satellite, and plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet.

    • 2

Press the power button until the power light flashes green. The LCD screen should come to life.

    • 3

Hold down the power button for 15 seconds if the computer fails to respond. Press the power button again to boot the system. In rare cases, the laptop may have crashed while in standby or hibernation mode, and will not wake up until you forcibly reboot the computer.
