Vogue Retro Trends

    • There is an old saying that everything that goes out of style always comes back around again. This has shown to be particularly true with retro styles of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s which seem to stay in vogue. From clothing to hair, the hottest looks of today often look a whole lot like yesterday.

    Hair

    • One of the most frequently seen trends in hair, according to article published on Style List is a nod to the styles of the 1950s, where waves and hair pulled back into ladylike buns stay very much in vogue. Reminiscent of the looks worn by 1950s icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Jane Mansfield, longer hair brushed off the face and secured with rhinestone encrusted bobbie pins frequently make their way back onto the runways of designers such as Prada and Louis Vuitton. Getting the look requires the use of old-school style hot rollers. Start by sectioning off one section of hair at a time, spraying with hair spray as you go. After spraying, wrap each section of hair around a hot roller and secure in place with a hair clip. After allowing the curler to cool for at least 10 minutes, release the hair from the curler and finger style the hair until you have loose waves. Brush the hair off to the side and secure with a bobbie pin, allowing the rest of the hair to flow naturally. Spray with hair spray to secure the hold.

    Clothing

    • Along with hair, another retro style that is often in vogue is the hippie look. Free flowing tops and dresses reminiscent of the 1960s and '70s is the look to have according to an article published in Stylish Miami. Knee high and granny style ankle boots are often worn with flowing dresses and skirts. One of the best way to dress on the cutting edge of retro fashion is to shop at vintage clothing stores. Not only do vintage clothing stores offer a wide selection of clothing from eras gone by, they are also an excellent way to shop in style and save some money as you go.

    Makeup

    • Makeup trends also frequently borrow looks from days gone by. According to Fifties Web, a website devoted to all things 1950s , '50s style makeup trends represent a timeless look of glamor. From peaches and cream complexions to dramatic looks for eyes and lips, the look is all about innocence mixed with sex appeal. For the skin, softness and freshness is the look to have, achieved by nude-colored liquid make up and matching pressed powder to combat shine. The cheeks are left bare for a more natural look and lips are glossed with a pale shade of pink or coral. For evening, the eyes go a bit more dramatic, accented with liquid eyeliner and black mascara, while the lips are colored with a deep-red shade of lipstick with just a touch of gloss for shine.
