What Can a Cricut Cut?

Like other personal cutting machines, you can use the Cricut to cut out design elements for collage, scrapbooking and greetings cards. It is primarily designed for use with paper and cardstock, but you can also cut other materials.
  • Function

    • The Cricut is a personal digital cutting machine with an onboard microprocessor that lets you edit and design shapes, letters and pictures without needing a computer. You can then cut out your design elements automatically. Cricut Cake can also cut frosting and other soft foods.

    Materials

    • The materials that you can cut with a Cricut include vinyl, thin sheets of foam, thin foil and flocked papers. You can also use the machine to cut some fabrics. You will need to stiffen the fabric before trying to cut it, and you'll generally need to experiment before you get the results you want.

    Warning

    • Be careful when using materials other than paper or card in your Cricut. Materials that are too hard or too thick can blunt the cutting blades, and may even void your warranty.
