Where Can I Learn How to Bid on Government Jobs?

Government contractors follow complicated rules, and fill out and track a lot of paperwork. Bidding is a complex process, and there's no shortage of information on correct procedures. Companies offer training courses and books are available that teach you bidding. Various government agencies provide detailed training and information on the bidding process for free. With these free resources, training, patience and attention to detail, you can learn how to bid on government jobs.

      Go to the Federal Business Opportunities website and, under the heading "For Vendor," watch the demonstration videos. These videos introduce you to the process of searching for opportunities and registering with the government to become a vendor.       Visit the Small Business Administration's website to take online training courses on how to win federal contracts. The SBA offers a course on winning federal contracts, and additional courses geared toward veterans and female entrepreneurs.

      Register for one or more trainings at the GSA website. The GSA offers vendors free self-learning modules online, webinars and on-site contract training at one of its 11 regional offices.
