Your registry can become corrupted for numerous reasons. Obsolete and unused items on your Start menu, remnants of programs that you have uninstalled and unwanted objects from your Internet browser can all slow down the function of the registry.
Function
-
Your computer checks the registry every time it boots up. If your registry has corrupt values or other problems, it will slow down your computer's function because it must check every line in the registry one by one.
Warning
-
The registry is very sensitive and you should exercise caution when editing it or deleting values. Before changing anything in the registry, make a backup copy in case something goes wrong (see Resources).
