Click your "Start" menu, click "All Programs," click "Accessories" and click "Run."

Type "services.msc" in the Run dialog and click "OK."

Scroll down the list of services and select "Windows Search." Right-click the service and click "Properties."

Click "Automatic (Delayed Start)" under "Startup Type."

Click the "Start" button on the same window. Click "OK" after you finish. You now can search using Windows Search.

The Windows Search Won't Turn On
In Microsoft Windows, your search feature uses a service called Windows Search, which stops when certain indexing programs install on your computer. You might notice that your search bar on Windows Explorer doesn't return results. To correct this, you only need to start up the Windows Search service in your computer.
