Zipline Activities in Hawaii

    • Ziplining is a growing attraction in which guests are harnessed to an aerial cable and use the force of gravity to "zipline" from one point to the other, usually between 30 and 200 feet above the ground. Tour companies in Hawaii are combining a traditional hiking experience with the fun of ziplining, resulting in a trekking course for eco-lovers. Guests should be in good physical condition. Remember to dress appropriately and hang on for the adventure of a lifetime.

    Maui Zipline Tours

    • Skyline Eco-Adventures offer two tours on Maui. One is high above the Ka'anapali Resort with eight ziplines that soar over waterfalls, cliffs and streams. The other is on the slopes of Mt. Haleakala, a dormant volcano. There are five ziplines on the Haleakala adventure, one of which is claimed to be one of the fastest ziplines in the world. Tours are available to guests at least 10 years of age. A signed waiver by a responsible adult is required for those under the age of 18. Skyline Eco-Adventures requires closed-toe shoes for safety; guests must weigh less than 260 pounds for participation.

    Big Island Eco Adventures

    • Big Island Eco Adventures hosts a four-hour zipline eco-tour of eight ziplines, two bridges (one wooden, one suspended) and three waterfalls. The tour includes a stop at the "Mac Nut Hut" overlooking a 32-foot waterfall, where drinks and local snacks are served. Tours are limited to a small group of 10 people, and guests are required to wear closed-toe shoes. There is a weight requirement of 80 to 270 pounds in order to participate on the tour.

    Princeville Ranch Adventures

    • Princeville Ranch Adventures on Kauai hosts a "Zip 'N' Dip" course. Total tour time is just over four hours. Guests endure nine ziplines, saving the best for last. The last zipline is called "King Kong," because before you know it, you will be ziplining 1,200 feet from a tower 26 feet high. At the end of the tour, a tropical picnic awaits at a hidden swimming hole. Food and inner tubes are included. Guests must be at least 12 years old, in good physical condition and between 80 and 280 pounds.
