How to Back Up an SQL Server 6.5

Microsoft's SQL Server application provides enterprise class database creation and storage facilities. Once a database is created and is being used by applications, it is vital that the database is regularly backed up so that it can be recovered in the event of a catastrophic failure. Databases can be backed up once or as part of a schedule.

      Log on to the Windows Server using an account with administrative rights.

      Click "Start," "All Programs," "Microsoft SQL Server" and then "SQL Server Management Studio."

      Click "Databases."

      Right-click on the database you wish to back up, and then from the drop-down list click "Tasks" > "Back Up."

      Click "OK" to back up the database.
