Information About Oolong Tea

One of the earliest references to tea drinking dates back to a story from 2700 BC, referencing tea leaves blown on the wind into a Chinese herbalist's pot of boiling water.
  • Origins

    • Several varieties of tea can be described as oolong, all stemming from either China or Taiwan. Oolong teas can range in color from a golden amber to green and can also vary in flavor intensity.

    Brewing

    • Oolong teas are quick and easy to prepare with, at most, three minutes of steeping required to bring out the flavor and color. Traditionally, the leaves are left to soak in water that is just below the boiling point.

    Benefits

    • Oolong teas have been found to have high levels of antioxidants which are believed to help fight signs of aging and prevent other illnesses. Increased metabolism is also linked with oolong teas, which is beneficial in weight loss.
