How to Dispose of E-Cigarette Cartridges

Electronic cigarettes are a nicotine replacement product that smokers use to stop smoking or provide the nicotine they require when they are in a place that prohibits smoking. The design of e-cigarettes emulates a real cigarette in size, shape and feel. They consist of three parts; a cartridge, an atomizer and a battery. The user inhales atomized liquid nicotine and exhales vapor, which eliminates secondhand smoke. The cartridges should be properly disposed of to prevent children or animals from ingesting them by mistake.

  Remove the spent cartridge from the e-cigarette.

  Rinse the cartridge under running water to remove any residual nicotine.

  Wrap the cartridge in foil or tissue to add bulk. This will make the cartridge too big to swallow.

  Place the cartridge in the garbage immediately.
