How to Download SMC with Dial-Up

SMC Networks distributes Internet networking-related products such as routers, switches and modems. To complete the installation of an SMC product, your system may require the product driver. You may also need to update your system with the latest SMC companion software, or download the latest supporting SMC product firmware. You can download product support files from the Internet, even if using a dial-up connection.

  Go to the SMC Download page online (see Resource).

  Enter the part number of the SMC product. The part number is located on the packaging or on the underside of the product. The part number begins with a 99, 150 or 151. If you don't have the part number, select the product category, the model number and choose a part number from the corresponding fields.

  Select the type of software, firmware, driver, manual or other supporting product that you would like to download over the dial-up Internet connection.

  Pick the computer's operating system from the corresponding field. Hit the right-facing arrow to continue.

  Hit the "Download" option to download the product. Depending upon the download size, the product may take a minute to download over a dial-up connection.

  Unzip the product. Many SMC products download as a zip file. To unzip, double-click on the product zip folder. Drag the files located inside the zip folder with your mouse, and drop them into the save location on the computer.
