Circuit boards are eclectic and detailed pieces for repurposing Creative Crop/Digital Vision/Getty Images
Circuit boards are computer elements that have a distinctive appearance due to their intricate wiring on a fiberglass and copper body. These items, once used, end up in landfills unless they can be creatively repurposed into functional products for everyday usage. They are flat, come in different sizes, are rectangular and are mostly forest green in color. They are a simple addition or base to various craft projects.
Business Card Holder
-
A circuit board that has reached the end of its computer life cycle can easily be repurposed into a functional business card holder. The board itself makes an interesting cover for the holder, storing both your cards for distribution and important contacts for your reference. The rest of the case can be made of polished metal to complement the detail on the circuit board. This would be a useful tool for anyone, but especially those working in the computer field, as a conversation starter.
Organizers or Notebooks
-
A circuit board can be drilled into to form holes that can be threaded with coil and paper to form useful organizers or notebooks. The board is hard and will protect the pages within while providing a decorative cover for your personal notes and date-keeping.
Decorations
-
These items can also be repurposed into fun crafts as decorations. They can be cut up and fitted with a key ring as a keychain. They can also be fitted with string or ribbon to form Christmas ornaments. They can be used in murals for an overall green portion, such as grass in a futuristic world, or as part of a sculpture. The website Revolve claims that they can be used as picture frames, clocks and clipboards, too. There are many ways to repurpose circuit boards that will keep them from ending up in a landfill.
