Tips to Raise Low Metabolism

  • Eat Breakfast

    • Jump start your metabolism immediately in the morning with breakfast. Your metabolism slows while you sleep at night and doesn't pick up again until you eat, so breakfast is the most important meal as far as metabolism is concerned.

    Choose High Intensity Cardio

    • The more intense your workout, the more calories are burned. High intensity cardiovascular exercise takes you to the anaerobic zone of training. The body is forced to process waste and recover from the activity, and more post work out calories are burned as a result.

    Eat Frequently

    • Five to six mini meals are preferred to three larger meals throughout the day. The longer you wait in between meals, the more your metabolism will adjust and slow in order to conserve energy. If your body is constantly fueled, your metabolism will be at peak performance.

    Improve Body Composition

    • Train with weights and increase your lean muscle mass to achieve a higher metabolism. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. Muscle tissue is metabolically active and burns calories even at rest.

    Stay Hydrated

    • Dehydration will slow metabolism: Over 70 percent of all body functions take place in water. Avoid consuming foods and drinks that have a dehydrating effect, such as alcohol. Simply said, stay hydrated.
