What Is Inkjet Hagaki?

Hagaki is the size of a standard postcard declared and specified by the Japanese postal offices. Many Inket printers offer the ability to print Hagaki postcards with the Japanese size configurations.
  • Name Origin

    • The Japanese word "hagaki" is the combination of the noun "leaf" with the verb "to write." Therefore, "hagaki" roughly translates to the American word "postcard." Some Inkjet printers translated "hagaki" to "Japanese Postcard" in their printer settings menu to avoid confusion.

    Size

    • The Japanese postcard is available in two different formats. The Japanese Postcard format is 3.94 inches by 5.83 inches. The Japanese Double Postcard format is 7.87 inches by 5.83 inches.

    Printing Hagaki

    • To print cards in the Hagaki format, click "File," "Print" and then click "Properties." In the printer dialog box, select "Hagaki" or "Japanese Postcard" from the drop-down menu.
