ABA-Approved Programs
-
Many employers consider an ABA-approved paralegal program the standard for employment. In order to become an accredited ABA program, a school's curriculum must meet the ABA's standards and include courses covering legal research and writing, litigation and ethics.

A list of ABA-approved paralegal programs is on ABA's website, which is linked in the Resources section. After selecting a state on the website, that state's ABA-approved programs display by school with a detailed description. Program completion may result in a bachelor's degree, associate's degree or certificate.
Online Programs

The ABA does not approve paralegal programs that are solely online or correspondence-based programs. It allows portions of a program, however, to be delivered online or through correspondence. Many ABA-approved programs include an internship, which cannot be completed online.
