The Best Time to Visit San Diego

San Diego is one of the gems of Southern California. Nestled by the sea, it enjoys an average year round temperature of approximately 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures like this make San Diego a great destination to visit for outdoor activities of all kinds, though arguably some seasons are more appealing than others for specific activities.
  • Summer

    • Summer is the perfect time to take full advantage of San Diego's beautiful beaches, since the weather is so accommodating. While summer can be a very busy tourist season, some must-see beaches are Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and Coronado Municipal Beach.

    Fall

    • If you are a lover of beer or wine, San Diego is the place to be in the fall. It offers a plethora of events geared toward beer and wine, such as the San Diego Festival of Beer and Celebrate the Craft.

    Winter

    • During winter time precipitation begins to pick up, though not to an excessive degree. San Diego offers many activities during this time of year to tourists who may be trying to escape the snow elsewhere. Many of these activities are geared towards the major holidays of this season. Some of these include Skating by the Sea, Surfing Santa at Sea Port Village, and San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival.

    Spring

    • Spring is the rainiest of all of San Diego's seasons, but there are plenty of activities to partake in. During this period the city holds Mardi Gras in the Glasslamp Quarter, one of the larger Mardi Gras events located in the western half of the U.S.
