Encyclopedia.com defines breakfast as the first meal of the day that "breaks the fast" that your body endures while you sleep. According to Think Egg, studies have shown that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it provides your body with the energy and strength to perform better throughout the work day. It is no wonder that breakfast meetings are on the rise, according to the "Telegraph," since a recent study showed that workers are more likely to pay attention at a breakfast meeting, thereby making the meeting more productive.

Continental breakfasts most often include an assortment of breakfast pastries and cereals. Breakfasts are usually characterized as "continental" if they do not include meat options, according to MrBreakfast.com. Pastries such as bagels with cream cheese, danishes, doughnuts, toast and jelly, coffee cake, muffins and croissants with butter are the most usual types of food served in a continental breakfast. Continental breakfasts are the easiest kind of breakfast to serve at a meeting because the items that are served usually do not spoil easily and can be presented at room temperature, thereby eliminating the hassle of keeping the breakfast either hot or cold throughout the meeting.

Serve a protein-rich, hearty breakfast at a meeting and your co-workers will be satisfied and more energized throughout the day. The "Telegraph" reports that research shows those who eat protein for breakfast show improved memory recall over those who do not eat a high-quality protein at breakfast. A meeting buffet rich in protein can include items such as scrambled or hard-boiled eggs, breakfast wraps, biscuits and gravy, bacon or turkey sausage, and omelets.
