COD WAW Search & Destroy Tips

    • "Call of Duty: World at War" is a video game available on all major consoles as of 2010, part of the "Call of Duty" franchise. The first-person shooter, which places a player in control of a soldier in combat during World War II, is a fast-action game that can be played either in campaign mode or through online multiplayer. One of the online modes is "Search & Destroy," a notoriously difficult mode for experienced players.

    Levels

    • Before entering the "Search & Destroy" mode, make sure you have reached a decent level that allows you access to the important arsenal in the game. Reaching Level 24 will let you use the MP40, the Bouncing Betties and Juggernaut, which should be enough to put you at a level playing field against the other gamers. Play the "Headquarters" mode to obtain experience and move through the levels; it is easier and provides plenty of shooting training. Additionally, if you die, the camera will follow other players while you are waiting to re-spawn, allowing you to see others in action and learn from their movements.

    Strategy

    • If you don't have a specific strategy or style of play on a "Search & Destroy" map, you will not last very long. Stick to a tactic and follow it through by correct movement and choosing the right weapons.

There are three primary strategies to choose from, all effective if carried out properly and on the right map. "Camping" is lying low and waiting to take people down as they run past you or within your line of fire. This is a good technique for either large maps or ones with plenty of hiding places. Position yourself in a location where your back is protected by a wall or building so no one can creep up on you. Equip yourself with the sniper for long-range kills and a shotgun for close ones. Stay still and pick your kills.

Alternatively, you can take the opposite approach of "rushing." This involves the element of surprise as you rush into hostile areas and obliterate enemies through heavy gunfire. Carry the MP40 with Dual Magazine, supported by Juggernaut. You need good aiming skills for this. Finally, there is the "flanking" strategy. It requires intimate knowledge of the maps and considerable experience. Carrying the Type 100 with Suppressor, Stopping Power and Extreme Conditioning, you flank the enemy by taking back routes through maps, picking off opponents one by one.

    Basics

    • Learn the maps by trying them out on private mode where you are the only player. Find all the good hiding spots and bunkers; if you are not using them for sniping/camping, someone else certainly will. Communicate with your teammates. Team strategy always overcomes individual strength. Turn up the sound -- hearing footsteps, reloads or bomb plants could save your life.
