Fundamental Principles
-
The ADA code establishes two basic principles: dietetics practitioners conduct themselves with honesty, integrity, and fairness and to promote only the highest standards of professional practice in themselves and in colleagues.
Responsibilities to the Public
-
The ADA places exacting ethical demands on its members in dealing with the public and clients. Examples of these demands include: to consider the health and welfare of society, to employ honest communication, to respect the unique needs of every individual and to protect the confidentiality of clients.
Responsibilities to the Profession
-
The ADA asserts that the members have obligations to their profession, as well as the public, which include: to use only evidence-based and substantiated principles, to avoid conflicts of interest and to make an accurate presentation of qualifications and credentials.
