Crossfire Basics

The Chrysler Crossfire was a short-lived sports car model produced from 2004 to late 2007. It was produced jointly by Germany's Mercedes-Benz and the United States' Chrysler car companies, and it was marketed as an affordable luxury sports car.

First Model

• The 2004 Chrysler Crossfire featured a Mercedes 3.2-liter, V6 engine that could produce 215 horsepower. It came equipped with either a five-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission.

SRT-6

• Introduced in 2005, the SRT-6 trim tried to boost sagging sales by introducing a new engine, an AMG supercharged engine that could produce 330 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. However, competing models were still more powerful, and the Crossfire was eventually discontinued in late 2007.

Fun Fact

• Despite its short life, the Chrysler Crossfire has been shown in multiple television shows and movies. The popular show "Prison Break" had its star drive the car in one episode, and the film "The Island" featured a Crossfire in its futuristic depiction of New York City.
