It has many of the same features as models of comparable price, as well as some normally found in more expensive models.
Navigation
-
The Nuvi 255W features preloaded maps, voice-prompt navigation, exit and street name announcements, topographical maps and the choice between two-dimensional or three-dimensional navigation maps. It also features auto-rerouting in case you miss a turn or wish to avoid a certain segment of the route.
Points of Interest
-
The Nuvi 255W is preloaded with a large points of interest, or POI, database that contains information about local restaurants, attractions, fuel stations and other common destinations. The database is customizable, allowing you to add POIs and create proximity alerts. For example, school zones and speed traps can be programmed in with alerts to make you aware that you are approaching them.
Display and Price
-
The 255W has a 4.3-inch diagonal touch screen. Its 3.81-inch-by-2.25-inch screen allows for supplemental information to be displayed without blocking the map and route information. It is a sun-readable display, meaning it can be read in the sunlight and at all angles. It has a suggested price of $179.99, which is competitive for its number of features.
