The Grand Wagoneer was introduced in 1984, although the basic blueprints for a luxury-style SUV had been in the works by Jeep since 1966 with the Super Wagoneer. The Grand Wagoneer was recognized by its exterior design which included wood paneling and bright colors, some with an extra metallic sheen. Although Jeep discontinued the design in 1993, the Grand Wagoneer possesses an exterior style that many people still remember.
Exterior Colors
-
The Jeep Grand Wagoneer used about 10 stock colors for its exterior, including black, bright white, poppy red, radiant fire (a darker red than poppy) and Malibu yellow. These colors still came with the wood paneling and stainless steel moldings which were part of the Wagoneer's traditional design.
Metallic Colors
-
In the later years of the Grand Wagoneer, before Jeep converted the design to its Grand Cherokee model in 1993, the Grand Wagoneer was available in a number of metallic colors. These metallic color styles included hunter green, Navajo turquoise, silver star, black cherry pearl (a dark purple), canyon blue, khaki, dark silver, navy blue, midnight blue and spinnaker blue (a grayish-blue).
Interior Colors
-
As a luxury-style SUV, the Grand Wagoneer also included different options for interior carpeting and upholstery colors for consumers. These colors, mainly subdued earthy tones that contrasted with the exterior paint and paneling, included caramel, cordovan red, garnet red (a brighter red), black, nutmeg or almond.
