How to Make a Shoulder Strap for an Igloo Cooler

Sometimes when it comes to coolers, the attached strap can be easily frayed or damaged with wear. This can be quite irritating for a product like this if you make use of it frequently. Thankfully, it is possible to make a new strap for coolers like the Igloo Cooler in no time at all.

Cut the webbing to 5 inches in length. Thread it through the square ring.

    • 2

Fold the ends of the webbing together so that they are perfectly matched. Stitch them together, securing the square ring in place.

    • 3

Cut a new strip of webbing to the length of your choice; this will be the main section of your cooler strap. The average length is 24 inches.

    • 4

Thread this new strip of webbing over the metal slide adjuster's center piece, folding it so that there are 3 inches of excess webbing. Conceal the raw edge by turning it under. Sew it as you did in step 2, securing the metal slide adjuster.

Return to the webbing piece created in step 5. Lay it out with the wrong side facing up, and thread the piece's other end through the square metal ring attached to the short webbing from steps 1 and 2.

Thread the webbing piece's loose end through the metal slide adjuster, making sure that all webbing pieces are flat and straight. Sew both strap ends to the cooler with the wrong sides of the strap facing inward.
