Homemade Cinnamon Toothpicks

A toothpick is a small, pointed stick of wood that you can use to remove bits of food from between your teeth after you eat. Most toothpicks are unflavored, but you can purchase flavored ones if you prefer. Optional flavors include cinnamon, mint, cherry, candy and even bacon. If you are creative, you can make your own flavored toothpicks. Cinnamon-flavored toothpicks are among the easiest to make at home. With only a small amount of effort one night and the next morning, you can have cinnamon-flavored toothpicks in a few days.

Pour cinnamon oil into your small glass jar. This oil does not need to be deep enough to cover the toothpicks; it should only be 1/8 in. to ¼ in. deep.

Put the toothpicks into the jar. Do not lay them flat in the oil. Instead, leave them standing upright so only one tip of each toothpick is resting in the oil.

Close the jar with the lid and ensure the seal is as airtight as possible. Let the toothpicks sit in the oil overnight (or longer if you want them to have a stronger flavor).

Remove the toothpicks from the jar, and spread them on a baking sheet to dry. This might take several days. When they are no longer oily to the touch, they are ready to use.
