How to Adjust a Toner Cartridge

Think about the last time you purchased a toner cartridge and how much you paid. Anytime you have to replace a toner cartridge, you may start to wonder how you can save money and extend the life of your current cartridge. To make the toner in each cartridge last longer, you have the ability to adjust it. This saves money and also helps conserve the environment as cartridges are not biodegradable.

Grab your printer's manual or log onto your printer manufacturer's website and locate the section which outlines the steps on how to adjust the toner. These are usually around the instructions on how to change the ink.

Check the levels of your toner on your printer. This will allow you to keep track of how much you are saving over time.

    • 3

Change the toner's density to the lowest number that you feel comfortable with as that will correspond to the amount of ink used as well as the quality of the printouts.

Accept the new settings and exit out of those menu options, which will bring you back to the original screen.

Print out a sample page to make sure that the settings have been changed correctly. If the quality of the printing is not up to your standards, go back the toner density and repeat the process until you find the settings satisfactory and best-suited for your printer.
