How to Convert VCD to MPEG4

Video Compact Disc, or VCD, files are most commonly associated with video CDs or laser discs. MPEG4 is also a digital video format and is commonly used on the Internet. There are several converters available online, many of which free, that can convert VCD files to MPEG4 with only a few clicks. While VCDs can also hold information like chapters, menus and scene selection, this information will not be retained on any disc converted to an MPEG4 file.

  A deluxe converter program, Home DVD Copy's "Easy DVD Ripper & Converter" includes several features that make converting from VCD easier. You can use utilities that select specific chapters, convert several files at once or select by specific time range. A subscription to the program also comes with a technical support service.   Desk Share's "Digital Media Converter" is another program that can do more than bare-bones conversion. The intuitive interface requires little more than selecting the file you want to convert and setting the output format to MPEG4.
