Hang framed pictures or posters or put up peel-and-stick decals that complement the decor in your waiting room. Add the wall decor lower on the wall than you would typically hang artwork so it's at a child's eye level. Decorating the walls directly surrounding the play area with child-friendly images and colors will designate the space as a kid-friendly zone. An out-of-the-way corner is the best location to set up the kids' play area.

Set up child-friendly furniture, such as a small table and chairs. Use a play table that has built-in storage and activities if possible. Push the table up against the corner if your waiting room is small, or leave enough room for children to play on the table from all four sides if you have the room or expect children to frequent your office.

Place an activity rug or child-friendly mat on the floor. Choose a stain-resistant rug that is easy to clean.
- 4
Include ample storage, such as bins or buckets that can slide under the table or chairs. Stuff them full of child-friendly books and quiet toys to keep the children entertained.

How to Design a Play Area for Kids at an Office
Children typically don't belong in an office, though there are instances and businesses, such as at a dentist's office, when you may find your waiting room full of children. Decorate a play area in your office to keep young visitors entertained while waiting. Giving children a designated play area will generally prevent them from interrupting your business and employees.
