How to Disassemble a Razer Copperhead

Razer computer mice, a popular choice of computer gamers, get dirty after extended use, which can lower its performance. For the owner of a Razer Copperhead, a powerful gaming mouse, this minor drop in performance -- which may not be noticeable when word processing -- can lead to precious moments of delay during online gaming and could result in losing a match. To clean a mouse, or diagnose a problem, you may need to disassemble it completely.
    • 1

Pry off the rubber foot pad at the bottom of the mouse with your fingers.

    • 2

Remove the screw that was under the pad using the screwdriver.

    • 3

Gently pull on the top of the mouse casing until it separates from the bottom. It is not fully free yet, so do not keep pulling after meeting resistance.

    • 4

Slide the top piece towards the back of the mouse after meeting resistance, to clear the top from the bottom piece. The pieces are still connected by a wire, so slide them back gently.

    • 5

Grip both sides of the plastic connector, where the wire is connected to the board of the mouse, and pull it out to fully separate the halves of the mouse.

    • 6

Remove the electric board from the mouse. It is not screwed down and should come out easily when pulled on. If possible, place it on an anti-static bag to avoid potential static damage to the board.

    • 7

Pry off the rubber grip running along the side of the body of the mouse.

    • 8

Press on the tabs near the back of the mouse that hold the buttons in place to pop them free. Each button has its own tab and must be individually popped.

    • 9

Pull up on the front of the buttons, then slide them out of the mouse casing.

    • 10

Pry the side buttons off the mouse with gentle pressure between the buttons and body of the mouse using the screwdriver.
