How to Hook up Electricity for 2 Outdoor Lights

You can illuminate the night by connecting electricity to two outdoor lights in your yard. By using solar panels and 12-volt batteries you can connect them to use renewable energy and not add a dime to your power bill. With renewable energy lighting not only do you save money but you also help lover your carbon footprint. Having outdoor lights will allow you to use lights when outside barbecuing or entertaining after dark in your yard.

Dig two 2-foot-deep holes with the post hole diggers. Use the tape measure to make sure that the holes are 2 feet deep.

Erect an 8-foot-tall 4-by-4 post into each hole. Then stir the concrete mix with water in the bucket until it is fairly thick in consistency. Pour the concrete mix into the hole around the posts to permanently fix them in the ground. The posts now stand 6 feet tall.

Fit the 12-volt batteries into the waterproof battery boxes and wire them for use. Then connect the positive and negative wires of the solar panels to the positive and negative posts inside the battery boxes.

Hang the 5-watt solar panels on one side of the 4-by-4 posts. Do this by drilling 2-inch screws through the solar panels' screw holes and into the 4-by-4 posts. This will position the solar panels to collect solar energy during the day.

Connect the 12-volt spot lights into the cigarette lighter receptacles of the battery boxes. Then fasten the 12-volt spot lights on the 4-by-4 posts by using the drill to screw in the 2-inch screws through the screw holes on the spot lights and then into the 4-by-4 posts. The lights are finished at this point and after 24 hours to charge the batteries the lights are ready for use.
