How to Identify the Different Storages

Windows does most of the work of mounting a storage device and assigning a driver letter when it is connected to the PC. This ease of use, however, might leave the user clueless as to how the device is set up. Customarily, the "C" drive is reserved for the hard disk and "D" is for optical DVD/CD drives. Other storage devices, such as an SD card and USB flash drive, take on any of the remaining available letters. If you need to identify the type of storage in Windows, that information is attainable.

Look at the icons and drive letters under each section. A DVD drive will have an icon reflected as a disc, while a floppy disk drive will have the image of a floppy disk.
