How to Locate the Calibration Code for a 1998 Mustang Cobra

All cars have calibration codes that identify the engine configuration, engine type and other power train components. Essentially, the calibration code indicates how your particular car is different from other cars, even those of the same model year and model. The 1998 Mustang Cobra, manufactured by Ford Motor Company, is considered a high-performance car. The calibration code on your 1998 Mustang Cobra is essential when replacing parts; it tells you (or a mechanic or parts store personnel) what makes your 1998 Mustang Cobra different from other 1998 Mustang Cobras. It also aids the proper and efficient automotive service of your vehicle. Anyone can easily find the calibration code on a 1998 Mustang Cobra.

Look for a small square or rectangular sticker with your vehicle's model information and various numbers and letters. At the bottom of the sticker is a horizontal line with numbers and letters on either side. Look for a code on the bottom side of the horizontal line, at the lower-right edge of the sticker. The calibration code will have the format of X-XXX, where X may be either a letter or number.
