How to Open a Microsoft Works File in Office

Works is a suite of productivity tools that comes standard with many Windows computers. If you have Microsoft Office and would like to open a Works file, you can do so by using the standard open command found in Windows applications. There is a chance that some formatting will be lost when opening a Works file in Office.

  Save the Works file to your desktop.

  Launch Word. Click the Microsoft Office icon in the top-left corner of the interface.

  Scroll down and select "Open." Choose "Works 6.0-9.0" in the "Files of type" list.

  Browse for your Works file that you saved in Step 1. Highlight it and click the "Open" button.
