How to Override Ink Replacement in a Lexmark X5495

After replacing the ink in a Lexmark X5495, you'll also have to reset the ink levels. Without resetting the ink levels, the printer will still read the cartridge as empty and fail to print. According to Lexmark, there are two ways to reset the ink levels. First, you can tell the printer you installed a new cartridge. Problem is, this solution won't work if the cartridge was already used in this printer because the printer saves the identification data from the cartridge. The second way is to reinstall the drivers. This will essentially erase all data and you will start new again.

Connect your printer to the computer and click "Continue." Then wait for the computer to recognize the printer.

    • 14

Click "Finish" to finish the installation process. Your new drivers are now installed and your ink levels will read full.
