How to Personalize Your Own Bingo Game

Bingo is a simple game that people of many different ages can enjoy. Bingo is also a convenient game as it doesn't require a lot of instructions or supplies to play. Make your own Bingo cards to reinforce vocabulary lists in classes. Give the definition of the words as clues and have the students find the correct term to match the definition. You can also use them for foreign language classes by saying the word in one language and having the students find it on their cards in the other.

Make a list of 50 items that fit into the theme you are using for your custom Bingo game. The first ten items are for the first column, the next ten for the second column and so on.

Draw a grid on a piece of printer paper that is six boxes tall and five boxes wide. Make the boxes 1 1/2-inches square. Use a pencil to draw the grid first in case of mistakes. Trace the grid with permanent marker once it is all laid out. Write the letters of the word "BINGO" in the boxes, one letter per box, across the top row of the grid.

Make copies of the Bingo card. Fill in each Bingo card with a different combination of items using the first ten items on your list for the "B" column, the second ten items for the "I" column and so on. You only need five items for each column on the Bingo card, but since you have ten options, not every item on the list will appear on each Bingo card.

Cut the items on your original list of 50 words apart to create strips of paper, each with one item written. Put the strips into a hat or bowl, from which you will select the words to call out during the Bingo game.
