Cold Drip Coffee Vs. Hot Drip Coffee

If you own a regular coffeemaker, you've experienced hot-drip coffee. Coffee beans can also be brewed using a cold method. This process takes much longer, around 12 hours for a pound of beans, but generates a product that is useful in multiple ways.
  • Not as Robust

    • The cold-drip process produces a less caffeinated brew that is low in acidity. This can be beneficial for those who experience some side effects of hot-drip coffee, which may include insomnia and heartburn. Cold-brewed coffee is naturally sweeter, which is useful if you're trying to reduce sugar intake.

    More From Less

    • This type of brewing produces a syrup that can be mixed with ice or hot water. This results in a higher portion of drinkable coffee from less beans. A basic guideline to adhere to is one-quarter part syrup to three-quarters parts mixer.

    The Case for Hot-Drip

    • Brewing your coffee hot-drip takes only a few minutes. If you wake up late, in a rush, you just might want that hearty caffeine boost.
