Stop using the card as soon as you realize you have deleted the images. While you cannot see the pictures on the card, they are still there. Memory cards retain the images until they are replaced with a new picture.

Download a free trial or freeware program like "Recover My Files" or "Disc Doctors" or "Card Recovery" to your computer. Open the program after it has been downloaded.

Insert the XD card into your computer's XD card reader or use an external memory card reader if your computer doesn't have a built-in reader. You can also connect your digital camera using a USB cable to achieve the same results. Wait for a moment for your computer to recognize that you have attached a card to it.

Click "Scan Files" in the recovery program and allow the program to scan your card. Once the scan is completed, a new window will appear containing the images that were formatted.

How to Recover Formatted Pics From an XD Card
XD cards are one version of memory cards that are used in today's compact and single lens reflex digital cameras. Developed by Fujifilm and Olympus, XD cards have given way to SD cards as they are less expensive to manufacture. In older Olympus and Fuji cameras, XD cards were used exclusively. Just like any other digital storage card, should you accidentally delete or format the card, which will delete all of your pictures, you may still be able to recover the pictures.
