How to Remove a Partition on an External HD

Control and manage the disk partitions on your hard drive using the Windows Disk Management tool. The tool allows you to create and delete partitions on both internal and external hard drives. A partition is essentially a section of a hard drive. When connected, the partition appears simply as another hard drive on the system. Deleting the partition frees up space on the external hard drive.

  Click the Windows button, type "diskmgmt.msc" in the search field and press "Enter."

  Right-click on the partition you want to delete. Select "Delete."
