How to Replace a Chevy Cheyenne Pick-Up Flasher Unit

The Chevy Cheyenne pickup truck has a flasher unit that makes the turn signals and emergency flashers blink. People commonly call them blinkers. The flashers make use of a mechanism that intermittently turns the lights on and off to alert other drivers that you are turning or are having vehicle problems. A malfunctioning flasher unit can be fixed quickly by most novice mechanics.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal with the wrench to loosen the nut. Locate the fuse box inside the truck on the driver side, under the dashboard. Unsnap the cover and pull it off.

The fuses and relays have labels on the fuse panel. The flasher relay is easy to find; it will be the largest relay there. It is round and silver. Unplug it by pulling it straight out with your fingers.

Plug the new flasher unit into the panel and replace the cover by snapping it in place. Connect the negative battery terminal and tighten the nut with the wrench. Turn the key on and test the flasher.
