How to Reset an Audiovox SMT5600

Audiovox released the SMT5600 cell phone in 2004 as a mid-sized device that could do many of the tasks that only full-sized smartphones could do at the time. The software in the SMT5600, as with many phones, occasionally becomes corrupt, causing the phone to either act incorrectly or not operate at all. Resetting the phone back to its factory default settings often fixes the problem, and Audiovox provides two reset methods: One through a phone program, and the other using a combination of buttons.

Software Reset

  Press the left soft key to open the "Start" menu. Press the right soft key twice to access additional programs.

  Scroll down using the navigation pad and highlight the "Accessories" option. Press down on the navigation pad to select it.

  Scroll to and select "Clear Storage." Enter the password "1234" at the prompt and select the "Yes" button. The phone is immediately reset to the factory default.

Buttons Reset

  Remove the battery from the back of the phone to turn off the device.

  Press and hold down the two soft keys.

  Press the "Power" button on the top of the device and hold it down for 1.5 seconds. Release the soft keys when you see a message appear on the screen that gives you instructions on how to reset the device.

  Press the "0" key to engage the hard reset.
