How to Restore CD Downloads

When you download files from a CD onto your computer, the various files are stored on the hard drive. CD downloads can include music files, video files and picture files. Files downloaded from CDs can be transferred to portable storage devices like SD cards and thumb drives. If you accidentally delete files downloaded from CDs, you can get those files back using a data recovery program, which you can download for free on the Internet.

  Download a data recovery program online for free, such as Smart Recovery 4.5, Uneraser or File Recovery 4. Once you have installed the program, run it on your computer.

  Choose the "C:" drive as the target to be scanned. The program will search the drive for deleted files, including files downloaded from a CD. The deleted items will be displayed as thumbnails in a list.

  Pick the downloaded CD files you want to restore and click the "Restore" button. The files will be returned to the hard drive.
