How to Transfer CD Songs to My Sansa Shaker

The Sansa Shaker is capable of reading and playing MP3 formatted audio files. The Shaker doesn't have an internal hard disk to save the MP3 files to. Instead, it utilizes an SD card. The Shaker can read files from an SD card no larger than two gigabytes in capacity. To transfer songs from a disc, you must first rip them in Windows Media Player. Once songs are ripped, you can use Windows Explorer to transfer them to the Shaker MP3 player.

Rip a CD in Windows Media Player

  Open Windows Media Player from the desktop Start menu.

  Right-click on the small arrow preceding "Library" in the top-left of the interface. Select "No Disc (E:)" from the menu.

  Right-click "No Disc (E:)" and choose "Tools" from the drop-down menu. Then choose "Options."

  Select the "Rip" tab in the Options dialog box. Press the "Change" button to choose a new save location under "Rip Music to this Location." Select "MP3" in the Format menu. Move the Audio Quality slider to the left or right to select your preferred audio quality. Click "OK."

  Insert the CD into the computer's optical drive. Windows Media Player may begin playing music from the disc. Press "Stop" and select "Rip CD." Windows Media Player will rip the songs from the CD and save them in the specified save location.

Transfer Music to the Sansa Shaker

  Arrange the Sansa Shaker so the front of the Shaker is facing you. Twist the cap on the bottom of the Sansa Shaker to the left to open it. Once the cap is removed, notice the memory card slot and USB port on the bottom of the Shaker.

  Insert the SD card, face down so the label on the card is facing the opposite direction of the front of the Shaker, into the memory card slot.

  Connect the Shaker to the computer with the USB port. The Shaker's USB port is right above the memory card slot on the bottom of the player.

  Select the "Computer/My Computer" folder from the desktop Start menu.

  Double-click on the Removable Drive that represents the Sansa Shaker.

  Drag the songs ripped from the CD from the save location, and drop them into the Shaker's removable disk folder.
