How to Uninstall IE7 From Your Registry

Uninstalling programs from the Microsoft Windows operating systems is a straightforward task, as in the case for the Internet Explorer 7, also well known as IE7. However, in rare instances, you may get an alert message that says that you cannot uninstall IE7 from a specified user account. Therefore, editing the corresponding registry key is necessary to successfully uninstall IE7 from the Windows Registry.

  Go to "Start." Choose "Run" and type "regedit" in the text field. Click the "Enter" button on your screen or press the "Enter" key.

  Scroll down the list and find this item on the Windows Registry window: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer." This is the Internet Explorer key.

  Right-click the Internet Explorer key. Choose "New" on the drop-down menu and click "DWORD value" in the list.

  Rename the IE key by typing "InstalledByUser" in the "DWORD value" text field. Click "Enter" to complete the new registry value.

  Re-try to uninstall the Internet Explorer 7 using Windows normal process for uninstalling a program.
