Instructions for the Sevylor Inflatable Tahiti Classic Kayak

At just 25 lbs., the Sevylor Tahiti Classic packs easily into a duffel bag or suitcase, making it a convenient traveling companion even when flying. Sevylor asserts the PVC construction is so durable that the craft has successfully traveled the entire length of the Amazon River twice. Simple to assemble and inflate, Sevylor's Tahiti Classic design has been unchanged since 1963. Unpack your Sevylor and have it on the water in a few easy steps.
    • 1

Remove the inflatable kayak from the box and unroll it, setting the splash guards, laces and seats to one side.

    • 2

Tie a knot with the splash guard lace on to the splash guard anchor on the boat. Lace the other end through the splash guard and then through the loop on the kayak. Continue until all laces and loops are secured, leaving the extra length of lace as a loop at the bow of the kayak. Finish by tying the other end of the knot to the opposite lace anchor and the extra loop on the bow to the bow anchor, forming a hand grip. Repeat the process at the stern of the kayak.

    • 3

Inflate the floor of the kayak, using the air pump with a narrow nozzle adaptor. Alternatively, you can use your mouth to blow air into the bottom section. Do not overfill.

    • 4

Inflate each side tube with the air pump until pressure is firm. A larger adapter adequate for Boston valves will make the job go faster by staying firmly secured in the valve while the boat is being inflated..

    • 5

Replace all air caps and put the boat on the water. The cold temperature of the water will cause the air in the boat to contract. You may wish to check the pressure after about 15 minutes and add additional air.

    • 6

Inflate triangular seats using your mouth and position in the Sevylor Tahiti Classic kayak. If one person will be using the kayak, position the seat slightly rear of the center point of the boat. If two people are paddling the kayak, position the front seat one-third of the way between the center point and the front of the boat. Position the second seat one-third of the way from the rear of the boat. Adjust as needed to accommodate for the height and weight of the passengers, with the heavier passenger seated in the rear.

Assemble your kayak paddle and put on your PFD. You are now ready to take your seat and embark on your paddling adventure.
