Maternity Gifts for Your Wife

  When your wife is expecting, you want to get her something that will show her that you love her and that you cherish the fact that she is going to have your baby. Look for items that will mean something to her and her role as a new mom. Time with you and opportunities to create heirloom items for the baby are ways to show your love, as well as the ability to record her baby's important moments.

Scrapbooking Kit

• Women who are into scrapbooking will enjoy receiving an album geared toward babies. Put this into a box with the supplies and tools needed to create the page layouts. Papers, stickers and other embellishments allow her to create a pages for each picture. Punches in the shape of carriages or bottles will allow her to add an extra touch to the album. Adhesive is always needed, and a pen will come in handy when journaling about each photograph she places in the album.

Journal

• If your wife enjoys writing, then a journal and pen will be welcomed. Purchase a thick journal so that she has plenty of room to write every detail of her pregnancy and new baby, if she chooses. Explain to her that the journal is for her to record information about her pregnancy, as well as about the baby when he or she arrives. Include a bookmark with a meaningful quote or a picture of a baby.

Craft Kit

• Moms who like to craft will like a craft kit for making items for the nursery. For example, plastic canvas booklets are available that provide patterns for nursery sets that include such items as a mobil, a picture frame, a tissue holder among other things. These project booklets also include a list of all materials and supplies needed. Purchase these and add them to a gift basket with a booklet. Another idea is to purchase an ornament kit for her to work with. The ornaments can be used for the baby's first Christmas.

Weekend Getaway

• To show your appreciation for your expecting wife, take her on a weekend getaway. A coastal or small town with a bed and breakfast, country inn or a cabin for just he two of you to stay in is always a great choice as time alone once the baby arrives will be hard to find. Spend time talking during your weekend getaway. Go for walks if she enjoys this, and take her on a picnic. A romantic dinner by candlelight is another idea. Take your wife shopping to find a special item to add to the nursery when you get home, and be sure to take pictures of your vacation.
