McAfee Trojan Removal

A Trojan horse is a malicious program that causes data corruption and other computer problems. Trojan horses appear to be legitimate programs, but begin damaging the computer once the user starts the download process.
  • McAfee

    • McAfee is an anti-virus software that blocks and removes Trojan horses as well as other malicious programs and viruses. McAfee requires that users pay a yearly fee to access the software for computer protection.

    Scheduled Scans

    • Once a user has downloaded McAfee, the software schedules virus scans to occur at regular intervals. If the software detects a Trojan horse during one of these scans, the McAfee program removes and quarantines it. McAfee notifies the user of the finding and removal.

    Manual Scans

    • Sometimes, McAfee misses a Trojan horse during a regularly scheduled scan. If you notice your computer behaving erroneously, perform a manual scan. Access the McAfee software, click on "Processes." Select "Perform a Full Scan" or "Thorough Scan." McAfee scans the computer for any Trojan horses and removes any malicious software.
