Pink Winter Flower

There are a few varieties of cold-tolerant flowering plants that bloom in the winter months. Along with Christmas cactus that many gardeners, who don't live in tropical areas, grow indoors in the winter there are also a few that will bloom outside in the winter.
  • Helleborus Niger - Christmas Rose

    • Although not a rose, the Christmas Rose is a dark green evergreen that blooms most of the winter. It is hardy to zone 4 and produces white flowers that turn pink as they are pollinated.

Erica Carnea Heath - Snow Heath

    • These heath have acquired the name Snow heath because of their tendency to produce pink and magenta blooms from January through May. They are hardy to zone 4. Other pink winter blooming heaths include Foxhollow Fairy and King George.

    Schizostylis Coccinea - Kaffir Lily

    • The Kaffir lily blooms during mild weather periods from November through January.

    Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera Bridgesii

    • The Christmas cactus blooms during the winter months, but is a native of Brazil where the nighttime temperatures are between 50 and 65 degrees Farenheit. For this reason many people in colder climates choose to grow them indoors. Their ability to bloom depends on the longer periods of darkness that occur in the winter.
