Search & Destroy Tips for WaW

    • Search and destroy is a tactical game mode in the video game "Call of Duty, World at War." Players only have one life per round; if they die, they do not re-spawn until the round is either won or lost. The objective of the game is to either plant the bomb at locations A or B, or kill the entire enemy team. If the bomb detonates, or the entire enemy team is eliminated, your team wins the round. There are many tactics that give you a winning edge in search and destroy mode, some of them are successfully flanking, being in party chat, teamwork and planting the bomb.

    Flanking

    • In team deathmatch type modes such as search and destroy, flanking is a useful tactic for the individual player, and the team as a whole. To execute this tactic, use the "extreme conditioning" perk, and use the outer routes of the map to get behind the enemy team. This position lets you shoot your enemy in the back before they know you are there. Flanking is particularly useful in search and destroy since the enemy team doesn't re-spawn after learning your last position.

    Party Chat

    • If you are playing with a team of your friends, play in party chat, instead of game chat. When you are in game chat, you cannot talk to your teammates after you die in-game to give away the enemies position. If you are in party chat, you can warn your friends about in-game dangers to help the overall team win. Communication can be the difference between losing, and helping the last member alive on your team win it all.

    Teamwork

    • Playing with a team of friends also gives you an opportunity to create a solid team likely to succeed. Have one person using a shotgun. This person leads the pack and exterminates as many players as he can at close range. This person usually dies first, but he has backup. Have two sub-machine gun (SMG) experts following behind the shotgunner at a medium distance; one behind him to the left, one behind him to the right. If the shotgunner is killed, the SMG experts will likely see where the shots came from, and will take the enemy out. Place a player using a rifle a good distance behind the SMG experts to remove all mid-range enemies. Far behind the pack should be a sniper. He can lead the team, and take out any flankers or long distance enemies. Always use silenced weapons. Not using a silenced weapon is the biggest mistake you can make, especially when using this tactic. Once you take one shot with an un-silenced weapon, the entire other team will hunt you down. Thus, your entire team may be in danger.

    Planting the bomb

    • When planting the bomb, keep all but one or two teammates with you to plant at A for protection. Send the other teammates to B to throw out as many distractions as possible. Flash-bangs, smoke grenades, stun grenades, regular grenades, and even un-silenced shots will aid the team as a whole. If your team makes a big commotion at B, the enemy team will likely flock to cover B, giving you time to plant the bomb at A and secure the area of straggling enemies.
