Sharepoint 2007 End User Training

SharePoint 2007 is an older version of Microsoft's extremely popular content management, document management and collaboration system. It is still in wide use by large corporations and government entities around the world, as of November 2010. One of the benefits of SharePoint is that it can do many things--but this also means that new end users can feel overwhelmed with all of its features and capabilities without proper training.
  • Workplace Training

    • Your company might offer online or live training that's customized to your specific SharePoint environment. Ask your IT team if there are any online classes, webinars or tutorials available to you. These typically explain SharePoint terms and concepts, provide task-focused training or offer information about your specific SharePoint installation. Ask a colleague to provide one-on-one training or to mentor you if formal training is not available.

    Self-Paced Interactive Training

    • The Internet offers thousands of on-demand webinars, classes and tutorials that you can take at your convenience. These can be extremely helpful if you want to learn about any topic--from SharePoint 2007 basics to more advanced topics. Lynda is one of the most popular Web-based vendors but you can also download Microsoft's standalone SharePoint Server 2007 training program directly to your computer. DVD training kits, such as dataBridge's "SharePoint 2007: Become a Super User," are also available at websites, book stores and libraries.

    Online Communities

    • Users who have specific questions or want to learn about best practices will find online SharePoint communities extremely helpful. They typically include forums or message boards where other users--including end users, developers and administrators--share tips, advice and knowledge. EndUserSharePoint and Microsoft's GetThe Point blog both contain vast amounts of knowledge and access to thousands of SharePoint 2007 experts.
